Hello from a very soggy Arizona! We have had rain for the past 3 days. I don't mean just a little sprinkle here and there but real gully washers. Supposedly, it is to stop around midnight tonight. It has been a nice change from our normal blue skies and bright sunshine. My plants are loving it too. This also means our temperatures are truly fall like, for us. No more 80F days and the nights are getting into the 50's! Doors and windows are open letting in all that glorious humidity and cool weather. OK, so I really am not a fan of the humidity, but love the cooler weather.
This is the year of the Non-Halloween. It rained so hard and for so many hours, last night, no one took their children out for trick or treating. Sorry kids. I do not ever remember it being ugly weather here on this day. Hot? Yes in years past but never raining.
I don't feel I did much knitting this past week. I did finish the first RCR sock for hubby.
No, I have not cast on #2 yet. Maybe today. I need to crank these socks out faster. Hubby came to bed last night and asked me...........'can this be repaired'. He then proceeded to show me another sock with a hole in the middle of the heel. Not repairable as it is not a contrasting heel and I do not darn socks. The saddest thing is, I do not have anymore of that sock yarn! It was cozy toes from Hobby Lobby and they haven't carried it for several years. Now I wished I had done contrasting heels and toes in the current socks I am making so when he wears them out, I can just reknit the heel. DARN!
The only other item worked on this week was the prayer shawl. I added about 2 inches to it and still have plenty of red yarn to go on it. *sigh* Knitted shawls do take so much longer than crocheted ones.
That sums up my handiwork for the week.
In more exciting news............We are getting a new toilet! Hey! Don't laugh! This is serious stuff. We have a powder room that gets a lot of traffic from family and friends. The current commode in there was purchased 20 years ago. It has been repaired several times and has finally gotten to the point where it is just plum worn out. Our son came over and took out the old one and will install the new on this week. We are waiting for Home Depot to deliver said toilet either today or tomorrow. It is not easy to find a toilet that fits in this little room. It has to be a round (not elongated) bowl. We also wanted a high rise like we have in all the other bathrooms.
Have you made Thanksgiving plans yet? Are you hosting this year? We just finalized our plans today and our son, Jay, is hosting this year. Looking forward to some lovely family time.
When do you start decorating for Christmas? I heard someone say they started on November 1. Traditionally we wait until black Friday to set up our tree. Last year I hardly decorated at all. I want to go all out this year so may need to start earlier than usual. I am planning on hosting Christmas. That is a Grandma thing for me. Even though the grandkids are all adults I still want to hear them say "we are going to Grandma's for Christmas".
I do have a little chuckle for you today..............
Until Next Time........................Happy Crafting!!!!!!!!!!!!
