WEEK 17

Ah, sitting here with my doors and windows open.  Letting in the fresh fall air is such a pleasure!  I may need to grab my knitting and head out to sit on the front porch soon.  We had horrible storms this past week with quite a bit of damage all around us. (We are ok) There was golf ball sized hail,  heavy rain, strong winds of over 60 MPH, trees uprooted, car windows blown out, roofs removed, all in a one mile radius of us.  The only damage we incurred was one of our patio umbrellas had the cloth ripped off of its ribs.  Totally replaceable.  I was worried about my plants but other than a few leaves off my trees and all the blooms off my Mexican birds of paradise, nothing else was injured. I feel blessed.

When it gets stormy out, I always want to be in the kitchen making comfort food.  Hubby has been happy with the warm and loving food that has appeared on our table.  He especially likes the brownies that have appeared.

As for knitting...............Yes, I did some of that too.

Sock #1 is on it's way.  Maybe it will be finished this week.

The prayer shawl has gotten love too.  The progress keeper is where it was the last time I showed it to y'all.  I will finish up the skein of red yarn and them do the patterned area in charcoal grey.  This goes with me each week to our hour of adoration prayer.  Otherwise, I seldom work on it.

I forgot to mention in last weeks post................Last Sunday was our 51st year of being married!  It gets better every year.

Do any of you have weekly schedules?  You know, things you do each week on the same day? I have been looking over my daily planner and noticed I have fallen into a weekly routine for the past year.  I always thought that after retirement we would no longer need to schedule daily activities and chores. Silly me!

Anyway................

I have a chuckle for you again............................................

WEEK 16

It finally feels like fall is upon us.  We are below 90F so that is always good.  Our nights are in the 60's so windows are open and fresh air is a welcomed change from the A/C.  Since we no longer have a dog, I can now open up my front door without a little dude barking at everything that moves.

I was absent from posting last week.  I truly did not have much to report and nothing big was happening in life in general.  This week I do have a finish for y'all

Hubby has a new pair of RCR socks.  I bet they will be on his feet tomorrow.  I just finished washing them so they will be in his drawer later today.

Not to let my sock needles become idle..................

I started another pair for him last night.  Again, this is Show Stopper yarn from Leading Men Fiber Arts and the color is Kaleidoscope.

I am still working on the prayer shawl but not much has been added to it since last update.  Now that the weather has cooled off a bit, I will pick up the Lego blanket again and hopefully get it completed before the end of the year.

I got a new pair of shoes this week.

I have issues with my feet thanks to my RA.  These are 'barefoot' shoes.  I wore them all day yesterday as we went to Costco, Sam's Club, attended Mass and went to dinner at the end of the day.  They were on my feet for 10 hours.  I was ready to slip back into my Crocs by the end of the day but was impressed that my legs, feet and toes did not scream at me.

I have been spending more time in the kitchen lately too.

Waffles for dinner is one of my all time favorite meals.  Hubby and I do that about once a month.  Add a little bacon on the side and YUM!

There have been brownies made and also a cinnamon swirl coffee cake.  Hubby is a happy camper.

We are still working on decluttering.  Most of the stuff we got from Stacie's house has been distributed where it belongs.  We are now working on our own 'stuff' again.  I swear, it is a never ending battle!  Every time I think we have things under control I see more
stuff we do not need or use.

I do have a little humor for you today......................

Until Next Time,...................Happy Crafting!!!!!!!!!!

WEEK 14

Hey there!  Just a quick update this week.

First up,

Sock #1 is completed and

Sock #2 is ready for the heel to be done.  Hopefully hubby will have a new pair of socks this week.

The sweater I have my heart set on to make is on hold.  I swatched last week.

I tried a size 7 and 6 needle and neither of them came close to gauge.  I did the math and I would need to make a size that is not even listed on the pattern!  I could go up another needle size but the fabric would be way too loose for my liking.  It would wouldn't drape, it would look like it was melting off my body.  Not sure what I am going to do.  I want to go to my LYS and talk to the ladies there and see what they suggest to do.

I picked up my colored pencils this week too.

My sweet daughter bought me a couple of new coloring books.  They are both gnomes.  One is for halloween and one for Christmas.  I forgot how much I enjoyed coloring.

I do not have a chuckle for this week.  Sorry!  Nothing else to talk about either.  WOW!  A very boring week for me.

Until Next Time.................Happy Crafting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
