YoP 34

Another week has passed.  Another death in my family too.  Oh man!  I am so over this year already.  Come on 2016!!!!  My step brother passed away on Wednesday this week.  He lives in Kansas (I live in Arizona) and his wife and daughters decided to have a quick funeral (3 days later) and to make it just a private affair.  So, needless to say, I didn't go to that.  Instead, I went to my Grand Daughter's teachers funeral yesterday.  It was a beautiful service with over 900 people there.  She was a much loved woman and will be missed.

In other personal news......................Our Daughter is getting married on Halloween this year.  She and her beau have chosen their venue and she is not sporting a really beautiful ring.  She has already picked her colors, attendants, helpers, the menu for the day, has the DJ, the person to make her cake, and the minister all lined up.  Now we need to get her measured so she can order her dress.  The dresses for the attendants have been picked out and they will be ordering those on their own.  Next weekend we will be going to pay for the flowers as she has already picked those out too.  Then it is on to designing and making her invitations and getting those mailed out.  Her future husband is a dream come true for her. She had been married before to a man that was not such a nice person.  This is really a wonderful thing for her this time and my husband and myself could not be happier for her.

Also, my #2 son and his wife will be having their marriage convalidated in the Church on April 11th of this year.  At least that is the plan right now.  My son has taken classes to join the church and has waited over 3 years for his previous marriage to be annulled (yes we are Catholic) so he could make this a sacramental marriage.  Their Daughter is so excited about this.  She is 9, and is all about fairy tale endings and this is a BIG one for her.  We are so proud of them.  This has not been an easy process for them, but they hung in there and we sent up a lot of prayers over the last 3+ years for this to become a reality.  So they have just a few weeks to decide how they want this ceremony to be.  What to wear.  Where to have the reception and all that good stuff.

So you see............................I have had 3 funeral and 2 weddings coming along this year.  Now you know why my crafting has suffered a bit.

So that brings me to crafting news.

I have completed my test knit.  Until the pattern is published, I am not allowed to post any photos of the finished item.  I am hoping it will be published soon.  I have the photos taken and I so excited as to how good the pattern turned out for me.

I have no other items that I completed or even worked on this week.  Between work, family crisis and dealing with grief from those around me, I just barely had time to complete the test knit.

Next week, I am looking forward to working more on my socks.  I would like to get them off the needles.  I don't think that will happen, but a girl can dream.  I have been requested to make another pair of bed socks for my mom and I think I might cast those on this week too. Other than that, I still have my CAL square that got sent out this week, to do, but that is really all that is on my list of to does this week.

I want to thank all of you that have been posting comments on my blog.  I read all of them, and have gained a lot of knowledge and courage from you.  I go back now and then and re-read them to remember what you have suggested and totally love that you all have such great advise and ideas.  Thank you all!

Now, lets take a look at THE LIST:

YoP 33

Good afternoon all!  I hope all of you had a great week.  Mine was pretty good until last night.  Got a phone call about 10:30pm from my DIL letting me know that my Grand Daughter's teacher had passed away very unexpectedly.  I know...................this is #2 for me this month.  Seems the teacher had an adverse reaction to some post operative medication she received.  She was at home when it happened.  The children seem to be handling it better than the parents at this point.  But there will be counselors at school on Tuesday (Monday is a USA holiday) and they will have a day of reflection for them that day too.  Thankfully, the Grand Daughter attends a Catholic school and she has a wonderful faith, so death is not a totally scary thing for her.

But other than that bit of ugly news...........................I have wonderful news.  I have been having a great crafting week.

Lets take a look

This is Square #2 of my CAL.  I know it looks a bit wonky, but when it is joined with the other squares, that will work out pretty good.

Here is Square #3 of my CAL.  I am totally enjoying doing this and will probably look for more KAL or CAL in the future.

I now have both heels turned on my socks.  I am on the leg and will just knit away until it looks like the yarn is going to run out.  I am in love with the color.  Purple is my favorite color and I love all shades of it.

In fact, I ordered my new glasses today and got them in PURPLE!  I have one pair that is my daily wearing glasses and I have another pair for working on the computer.  I have been doing that for a few years now and love it.  I have decided not to continue with wearing contacts. I am hard to get a perfect sight with them since I am in bifocals and have been for years.  I have bifocal contacts, but each eye has different RX and it never is perfect.  So, I am going to be a four eye person from now on.

I have taken on a new project this week.  It is a test knit!!!  I finally found one that I could squeeze into my other projects and I am loving it.

Take a sneak peak:

The due date is February 21 and I should be able to make that deadline pretty easy.  I am almost half done and have only worked on it for the past 3 days.  I can not tell you what it is, yet or show you more than this little bit.  Once the pattern is released, I will post all about it.

So let's take a little look at the list

YoP week 31

I am trying to get this finished up so I can get it posted before the end of the week.  Seems like the weeks are going by faster and faster these days.  Our weekends are no longer free time anymore.  I don't think I see a free weekend until April sometime.  Crazy life I live, huh.

Anyway.  I don't have any more finished off items.  I did manage to turn one heel of my socks and am getting ready to do the other heel this week.  Then it is just doing the legs to complete them.  I don't mind that part at all.  Although, it can get a bit boring but with this lace pattern, it seems to keep my interest a bit more.

I still have that darn sweater that I need to get cracking on.  I would like to have it done for the spring/summer this year.  As I looked at it the other evening I came up with a thought.........why am I not doing this in the round?  I mean, there really are no sleeves in this.  I know how to do bottom up and top down both in the round and it seems crazy to me to be doing this front and then back and trying to make sure my 'lace' patterns match up.  So I may rip it out and start it all over again in the round.  I know that sounds crazy, but it will be easier in the end.

I did complete my next CAL square this past week.  I will post a picture of it next week though.  I don't have my camera with me where I am making this post, so no photo.  I also managed to get the last boot cuff done last Sunday.  The three pairs have been delivered to their owner and she loves them!

This yarn diet is killing me.  I so want to start on the "My Crochet Doll" for my Grand daughter, but I am in need of LOTS of sport weight yarn and I have ZERO in my stash.  I have DK, Sock, Worsted and Lace but no sport!  I am holding out until the end of June to purchase it and will just concentrate on my other projects I have listed using the stash I have at the moment.

Work is going a bit smoother........................well, we did have a little computer problem AGAIN for about 2.5 days.  But we are all better again and sailing along.

My co-worker is still out on bereavement leave.  The funeral is this weekend and we are all going.  We have to travel 125 miles to go to it, but we are a pretty close knit group and want to be there for her support.

Next weekend is Valentines day and we have a retreat at church that day.  The weekend after that is the start of spring cleaning at my house and the weekend after that I have my Grand Daughter over night.  March is filled with visits from friends and road trips.  I keep thinking, that when I retire, life will slow down for us.  But Hubby keeps telling me it just gets worse!  I really need my crafting time.  I hope he knows that.  LOL

Anyway.............that is all the news I have for now

Happy Crafting!
