It is finished!

I have finished projects to show this week.  WOOHOO!  About time, huh?

Here is the picture of the finished shawl for DD for Christmas.  (She is standing over my shoulder looking at this)  Like she doesn't know what it is going to look like since she is the one that bought the pattern and yarn.

I still need to block it yet.  It is only 30% mohair so all I am worried about are the points on the end of each side.  Do you think it will block being only 30% wool and 70% acrylic?

Here is another shot of it.  Please excuse the mess in the background but this is MY craft room.

I also completed some dishcloths as I told you about last week.  Here are the completed ones.

Here is a picture of the one that is in progress.

I love this pattern.  It is called Double Bump and you can find it on Ravelry.  Super easy and fast to do and makes for a great scrubbing cloth.

So today is almost half over.  I have bathed both of the dogs, done 2 loads of laundry and am getting ready to make Spanish Rice for a family dinner tomorrow night.  Then DD and I are going to JoAnn's to pick out material for our Easter dresses.  I am also going to look for some T-pins to use for blocking.  My LYS was out of them!  I could hardly believe it.

My brother, sister in law and her mother are coming into town today for the week.  They will be staying at the apartment complex where my mom lives.  I don't know how much crafting I will get done this week as I do want to spend time with them.  But what I do get to I will tell you about next week.

Happy Crafting!

  1. That looks great, I'm rubbish at blocking things, I read a blog before blocking my jumper which was like a massive ritual that you should do when making up a garment, me being as impulsive as I am did it the quickest way possible!
Well done on all those cloths, I keep meaning to have a go at making one.

    Have a great week.

  2. Made note and will look up the double bump. The others look great, pretty and colorful. Blocking should be fine, I block afghans and they're 100% acrylic and they block, and it does make a difference. Shawl looks awesome. Congrats on getting it done.

  3. The scarf looks great. No idea how blocking will work with the fiber you've used, but there's no harm in trying!

The double bump has been in my queue for ages. Maybe I should move it up th elist?!

  4. Lucky daughter receiving such a gorgeous gift. I don't block well either. I try but my results always are a bit lacking. I do know that for me, T-Pins are essential to having any hope of success. Double Bump is a great dishcloth--I did one after Christmas and hope to do more of them this year.

  5. As it's primarily acrylic you'll probably have more success if you stretch it and pin it out dry, then gently steam it. Just don't touch the hot iron to the yarn or it will melt! Hover above and just let the steam go through the fibres.

  6. DD's shawl is very pretty! It should block fine after you soak it in some wool wash and pin it down to dry.
You are so productive w/those little dishcloths. Nice to have quick gratification on the side while knitting up a long term project.
Will DD be able to wait until Xmas to wear her shawl or is it for last year's?
