YoP Week ???

Once again, I have fallen behind in my blogging.  Life has a way of doing that to a person, especially this time of year.

I have no new pictures for you today.  But I am working on another pair of socks.  I have one completed and am about 3/4 done with the next one.  Once they are both completed, I will take a photo and post it on here.  I have been faithful to these socks only these past few weeks.

So you want to know why I have been so absent from here?

Thanks for asking!

Last time we talked, was around Mother's day.  Since then I have retired, had a birthday, had to plan an emergency trip to Seattle (yes Kim, I am coming up there for a VERY short visit), and am knee deep in trying to get all my financials taken care of before our trip to Texas next month.

Retirement.........................HA!  There is no such thing.  I have been retired for one week and have been working so hard on the house with my hubby, I wish I was still in an office job.  We totally tore apart our 'Arizona" room.  It was the room that everything got shoved into when we had no clue where to put it.  We have been doing that since 1988.  So you now have an idea of what that must have been like.  It took us 5 days, but we finished it today.  It looks wonderful.  It is a HUGE room.  About 20 ft by 40 ft.  It sure did hold a lot of crap.  LOL  Not anymore.  We have filled our garbage bin twice and our recycling bin twice. Yup, it is a very clean room now.  Our dogs love it too.  They now go out there and chase each other.

Birthday..................It was pretty quiet................well almost.  We actually were celebrating it a day early when my DIL got a phone call from her sister informing her, dad had fallen off the roof and was at the trauma center and she needed to get up there now.  Remember, this is pool season in Arizona, so DIL was at my house in her swim suit (pair of men's basketball shorts and a tank top) and flip flops.  She could only find one more flight out for the day that would get her to Seattle.  So, off she went to the airport with the clothes on her back and that was it.  Lucky for her, she and her sister wear the same size.  I am taking clothes up with me tomorrow when I go to deliver our Granddaughter to the other Grandparents.  DIL's dad is pretty messed up.  Broken bones in his foot, ankle, heel, leg and face.  He is having surgery #2 on Tuesday this week.  Hopefully he will be able to get home in a few days until his next surgery and he will have to have another and probably 2-3 more surgeries before everything is fixed as best as it can be.

So, I am going to Seattle tomorrow until Friday, when I will leave there (with my DIL) and fly into Las Vegas, where my hubby and son will be picking us up from the airport.  It is all very confusing and this is why I do not have sock #2 done yet.  I have been so busy cleaning, packing, helping etc......The knitting has taken a back seat.

BUT....................I am taking knitting with me to Seattle.  Grammie (the other grandma) is a knitter and we love to sit around at night and stitch and bitch.  Keeps us sane.  I have also taken extra sock yarn with me.  I am hoping to finish the second sock either tomorrow or the next day and then I am going to start on snoqualmie socks.  I thought, if I was in the Seattle area, then what would be more appropriate than to make a pair of socks that say WASHINGTON all over them.

So here is my list for this year..................I don't know if I will be able to blog again before the last week.

  1. Well bang goes the idea of you spending those lazy hazy days of retirement sitting down shooting the breeze and knitting, life is pretty full on for you at the moment and I hope everything works out and settles down. Wishing your DIL's dad well and hope his recovery goes well sounds like he did a lot of damage, poor man.

  2. Well, I can see exactly why little knitting has taken place! You have been so busy, it sounds brilliant to now have a new room!! The next few days sound manic as well, I hope you get your knitting session with the other grandma. I hope your DIL's dad improves soon, he sounds in a lot of pain.
